Snow shows "invisible" microclimates!

General Discussion

Here’s a bonus feature especially for all those of you on our free online course Citizen Science: Soil to Sky who aren’t able to assess your soils this week because they are under snow!

Snow can be really helpful in showing microclimates that might otherwise be invisible. Where does it fall first? Where does it build up? Where does it first melt?

Here are a few examples of microclimates and normally invisible effects that we can see because of the snow. You can share your own observations here – click to upload your snow photo to Padlet – remember to describe how the snow shows a microclimate.

Enjoy, stay warm and be safe!
